Ronald Martinez
President and Owner
After graduating from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California with a Business and Engineering degree, Ron joined Fluor-Daniel Corporation, which constructed energy related facilities around the world, where he worked for 11 years. In 1986, on a ski trip, he invited Scott Shrader to combine their talents to start a construction company with a vision for excellence and long term relationships in the tenant improvement industry.  Ron has served as president of the national Retail Contractors Association and is currently president of Greater Sedona Community Foundation.  He has been married to Linda Martinez for 33 years, who is the Director of Business Development. Ron is passionate about skiing, racquetball, travel and social ministry.

Scott Shrader
Vice President and Owner
Some say that Scott was born with a hammer in his hand.   Scott began his construction career as an apprentice to a master carpenter with John P. Overholt Construction.  He quickly learned all of the trades and received his first contractor’s license in 1981.  Scott had a successful career building single commercial and residential projects in Sedona, Arizona until he took a ski trip with Ron.  There they formed the concept of SMC around the dining room table.  Today, Scott is responsible for required licensing in all states, employee development and a large client account. Scott is an accomplished and passionate pilot and sailor. He and his wife of 33 years, Jackie, enjoy flying their plane to visit with their grandchildren and sailing new waters each summer.  He still enjoys working with his hands.

Michael Cook
Chief Operations Officer
Mike applies the same drive and passion for his work whether he is climbing a mountain in Nepal, training for a grueling mountain bike ride, or holding project managers to a high standard of performance.  A graduate of California Polytechnic University, Pomona, Mike taught high school and worked up to position of principal. Ready for a change, Mike Joined SMC in 1990.  Today, he is responsible for 40 Superintendents and 9 Project Management teams.  Mike has been married to Nilda for 35 years and enjoys exploring our world.  Recently his journeys have taken him to Thailand where he trekked and biked throughout the country doing volunteer work.
